Sims 4 After School Activities

Best After-School Activities for The Sims 4 (Download) 2024

If you want your gaming avatar to be an all rounder, then focusing only on studies isn’t going to help them. They must also participate in Sims 4 after school activities because that’s how their skills would build, and they’d be more than just nerds.

It’s essential for every child to do an extracurricular activity for their growth and development. So let’s look at the activities that the game provides you so that you can decide which one your avatar should opt for.

Why Do You Need Extra Curricular Activities?

There are several reasons why this feature has been included in the game and some of them are as follows.

1. Adds Realism to the Gameplay

A lot of players have been asking for more additions in the family gameplay, including more things for the kids and teens to do. These activities after school are the ones that would make the storyline more realistic because even in real life, the children are enrolled in some or the other club, such as swimming, skating, basketball, etc.

It’d help them act their age through this feature and also give some time to the parent sims to have for themselves.

2. Helps Build Skills

Skill building in the early stages of growth and development is of utmost importance because they shape the future of a child in every way. These clubs and after school activities would help them learn new things through daily tasks and help them focus on specific goals.

3. Keeps the Gameplay Refreshing

Instead of going into a rut and doing the same things over and over, this fresh addition to the game would make players feel refreshed and energized. It’d break the routine of your avatars as well as they’d have something new to look forward to.

4. Lets Players Take a Break

If you’re managing several sims at once, it might become chaotic at times to handle all of them at once, and that’s where these after school hobbies would come into play as they’d act as a buffer for you to relax and manage things with peace.

5. Brings Newness to Expansion Packs

There are certain expansion packs that include specific after school pursuits for your avatar to choose from so that the EPs don’t lose their relevance quickly and can be played for a long time. They’d be in sync with the theme of those packs, adding a much needed freshness.

How Do You Join After School Activities in Sims 4?

For each activity, there might be some or the other DLC packs that you’d have to download to access it because this feature is not a part of the base game.

Now, there are two ways to join an activity of your choice. So first, once you download the required pack, you can go to the Business App on your sim’s cell phone, which is a briefcase icon, and then click on the “Join an after school activity” option. You can now select the club or team you want your avatar to be a part of. You can also do so by navigating to the High School tab on the computer and sign up for any of the options at home or school.

The other way is to look for a class representative near Copperdale High after school hours. These students would be holding a sign and you can go to the one promoting the activity you wish for your sim to join. You can also ask them for details about that particular club.

Some of these activities are for both children and teens. Teens can choose any pursuit they want to, but children can only go for selected activities. Also, they can join only one activity at a time. As they keep completing the tasks and acquiring skills, they’ll be promoted accordingly. There are three promotion levels. Your character must also attend meetings that are held several times a week by going to the Career Tab in the bottom right corner. It’ll give you all the progress about your avatar’s performance, status, schedule, needs, and so on.

Quitting any of the activities would work the same way by using the phone under the Business app. Players with the Parenthood DLC would find that their avatar’s responsibility value decreases once they quit the activity.

How Do You Do The After School Activity On Sims 4?

Here’s a list of all the child after school activities that you can enroll your characters in and what they’d be expected to do in it, along with the DLC packs you’d have to install for it.

1. Scouts –

  • DLC – Seasons
  • Ages – Children, Teens
  • Schedule – Saturday and Sunday, 2 pm to 4 pm.

The first on the list is this actively engaging activity, which expects your avatar to earn scout badges by being a good citizen, helping others, being self sufficient, working on self improvement, and so on. They’d also acquire a board where they can keep track of their badges. Those with the Parenthood DLC would also see an increase in their sim’s character values. There are 4 levels in this, depending on the badges earned by the characters.

Your avatar must perform the following actions at least 6 to 12 times to earn these badges.

  1. Arts and Crafts: You can gain this badge by drawing or painting on an easel or an activity table.
  2. Civic Responsibility: Cleaning or repairing things would help you earn this.
  3. Give Back: Donate to charity using the mailbox or computer, and you’d receive this badge.
  4. Good Deeds: Sims can earn this by making others laugh, playing with a toddler, taking the trash out, or helping others with their homework.
  5. Keep Fit: Exercise to gain this reward.
  6. Outdoor Adventurer: You can gain this badge by catching fish, grilling outdoors, or collecting frogs.
  7. Scholarly Aptitude: Doing homework or school projects (Parenthood) would let you acquire this badge.
  8. Sociability: Perform friendly interactions to earn this.
  9. Young Scientist: You can gain this by using the telescope, microscope, or computer programming.

Here are the levels and the requirements to clear them.

  1. Llama Scouts: one badge; secret handshake reward
  2. Griffon Scout: 3 badges; scouting manual reward
  3. Unicorn Scout: 6 badges; bronze trophy reward
  4. Pegasus Scout: 9 badges; gold trophy, new uniform, and aptitude trait reward.

2. Drama Club –

  • DLC – Get Famous
  • Ages – Children, Teens
  • Schedule – Monday to Friday, 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

If your sim has a passion for acting or if you want them to pursue acting as a career, then you should make them participate in the drama club because it’ll enhance their charisma and acting skills. However, your avatars would have to work extra hard and would have a tedious schedule.

They’d have to go to meetings every day, which would eventually affect their focus on homework and other hobbies. No pain, no gain. Even though this school activity is for both children and teens, children can’t get promoted to the top level. There are 4 levels in it:

  1. Stage Beginner – Practice acting using a mirror and achieve level 2 in Creativity skills.
  2. Line Learner – Learn new lines in front of the mirror and reach level 4 in Creativity skills.
  3. Practical Performer – Practice lines in front of the mirror daily and increase the Creativity skill.
  4. Junior Artiste – Practice lines in front of the mirror every day and work on improving your Creativity skill.

3. Cheer Team –

  • DLC – High School Years
  • Ages – Teens
  • Schedule – Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday; 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

This extracurricular activity is only available for teenagers as it focuses on fitness skills. They’d have to practice cheer routines three days a week and become a Cheer Team Captain by being promoted.

4. Football Team –

  • DLC – High School Years
  • Ages – Teens
  • Schedule – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Again, this activity builds fitness skills; therefore, it’s only accessible to teens. Your character would have to work on their football throws during every practice session, and once they join the team, they’d receive a football in their inventory. Players can buy one from the catalog as well. The top level is becoming a Football Captain.

5. Chess Team –

  • DLC – High School Years
  • Ages – Teens
  • Schedule – Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Teenagers can enhance their logic skills by joining this activity, and their daily tasks would involve playing chess. If they work hard, they can even become the Chess Team Captain some day. Players can also go to the phone and request a Science Fair, where your sim can enter a chess puzzle competition.

6. Computer Team –

  • DLC – High School Years
  • Ages – Teens
  • Schedule – Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Wish your sim worked on its programming skill? Then let them join this team, which makes them practice programming three days a week on the computer, and as they get promoted, they can become the Computer Team Captain. They can even participate in the Science Fair’s game competition if you request it through the phone.

Afterschool Activities Mod

There are a few mods that two of the creators have come up with, and they add extra options for you to choose as an activity for your avatar. So let’s take a look at them as well.

Adeepindigo’s Mods

The Teen Dynamic Mod by Adeepindigo includes several after school activities, and some of them are as follows.

1. Team and Club Tryouts

Team and Club Tryouts

There are several clubs and teams that your character might want to join, but they have to pick one. So your avatar can participate in team and club tryouts for any of the activities they wish to join. They can opt for the STEM club, performing arts club, and so on. There are certain tasks that they’d have to do to make their way to their desired club.

2. Teen Activities

Teen Activities

This mod adds so many after school activities that your avatar can carry out with their fellow peers, such as going to the mall, college fairs, hooking up with others, group dates, and so on. Your avatar can go for these activities with 6 other sims, and the players can’t go with their avatars to these activities, but they can see the moodlets to assume how it’s going.

KiaraSims4 Mods

1. Ballet

Ballet

Ballet is such a beautiful dance form and now even your gaming characters can learn it by attending classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 pm to 6 pm. They’d start as a ballet dancer and hone their skills as they progress further.

2. Basketball

Basketball

Earlier, we had discussed the football team that your avatar could join, but with KiaraSims4 mods, they can even be a part of the Basketball team. They’ll begin as a basketball player, shooting hoops on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 pm to 7 pm.

3. Dance

Dance

If your character has a passion for dance, then this is the ideal choice for them. They’d start at the Dancer Beginner position and would have to practice on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

4. Karate

Karate

This activity would teach your avatars discipline and strength, and they’d begin as a Karate Kid, training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 pm to 6 pm.

5. Little League Baseball

Little League Baseball

Not interested in football and basketball? Then, your sim can try baseball and learn teamwork. Your avatar would acquire the position of a Sandlot Slugger initially, but they’ll be promoted as they practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 pm to 6 pm.

6. Martial Arts

Martial Arts

A lot of people have this misconception that karate and martial arts are somewhat similar, but they aren’t. They teach the same things, which is self defense, but the routine’s more hectic and tedious.

So enroll your sims in this club from Monday to Friday, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Your character would have the white belt at the beginning but would achieve higher levels as they practice.

Kawaii Stacie After School Activities Mod

Kawaii Stacie After School Activities Mod

You’d love this mod by Kawaiistacie because it adds so many things for your sim to indulge in. For instance, daycare, debate club, flower garden, k-pop club, gym club, pet sitters club, party planning club, and so many other options that you’d be overwhelmed by the varieties it offers.

All these activities are a rabbit hole, though, so you can’t accompany your avatars to them, but they do come with emotional buffs, which would keep you updated about their experience.

ilkaSimming Afterschool Activities Bundle

ilkaSimming Afterschool Activities Bundle

Here’s another rabbit hole mod that comes with 6 unique activities, like school choir, orchestra, poetry circle, etc., that have 5 levels, and works on your avatar’s fun and social needs, enhance their skills, and so on.

How Can I Create After School Activities in Sims 4?

Players with the Get Together expansion pack can create and customize their own after school activities to bring in more variety and uniqueness. These clubs can only enroll 8 students, and you can decide the joining criteria on your own.

Also, they should have 1 to 5 things to do whenever they meet. Think of a name for the club, choose a logo, and you’re all set.

It’s up to you where you wish for the meetings to take place and what group activities or forbidden activities you want the characters to indulge in. Here are a few such clubs –

1. Homework Club

If you don’t want to run after your child avatar to complete their homework, then get them to join this club where students come together and complete their school work. It’d be a genius addition to the game.

2. Arts and Sciences

You can create a club where sims come and indulge in activities, such as exploring space through the telescope, hanging out at the library, painting, and so on.

3. Recreational Activities

Your sim can join a club where they can go bowling, skating, video gaming, card games, etc. There’s so much that you can make them do to pass their time and enhance their skills at the same time. Those with the Movie Hangout Stuff Pack can also create a movie club.

How to Install This Mod?

You can install any of the mods you like through the downloading link, but we suggest downloading any one of them to avoid any compatibility issues or errors.

  1. Download the mod.
  2. If it’s in a zipped file, unzip it to .package files.
  3. Now, copy and paste these .package files to the Mods folder (Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods)

Don’t place these files too deep in the folders, though, so that the game can locate and read these files. Also, enable the custom content and script mods in the game settings.

Conclusion

These were all the fun and engaging Sims 4 after school activities that you can make your avatar indulge in because there are a lot of benefits that each of them offers to the characters and to the players as well.

It’d be one of the best decisions you make in the game, so don’t give it a second thought and enroll your characters in one of the above mentioned pursuits.
